I love Butterfingers.
I don't know what they are made from, and couldn't describe the taste if I tried (buttery, maybe), but they are my perfect candy. If someone asked you what's in a Milky Way you'd be able to say chocolate, caramel and nougat (though nougat is an odd component in and of itself). But what on earth is a Butterfinger made of? Bliss, I suppose.
So here it is: world's simplest and quickest pie. In fact, this pie is so easy that I am going to have to physically restrain from purchasing Butterfingers because I would make it every time I had a candy craving. There's no need to make your own crust with a pie like this--just accept it for the ridiculously simple and delicious recipe it is. I used Light Cool Whip and 1/3 less fat cream cheese, but I'm still under no illusion that this pie is remotely good for me. Oh well. It's incredible.
Butterfinger Pie

Ingredients
- 6 (2 1/8 ounce) Butterfinger candy bars, crushed *
- 1 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
- 1 (12 ounce) cartons Cool Whip **
- 1 graham cracker crust
Directions
- Mix first three ingredients together.
- Put it in pie crust.
- Chill.
* I used one bag of the smaller bars from the grocery store. It's around 12 oz, cant quite remember. While they were all still in their individual wrappers, I used a garlic press (first mallet-like thing I saw) to crush them. I saved three or four for the topping, and crushed those slightly less.
** I've mentioned this before, but generic brand Cool Whip is one of the few ingredients that I think works just as well when cooking. It'll save you a whopping dollar or so, which you can then use to justify Philadelphia Cream Cheese...because all cream cheeses are not created equal.

I made this pie yesterday for my husbands birthday (butterfingers are his FAVE).... He loved it and hardly shared any! Thx for the great recipe :)
I'm so glad it turned out great!! I made the same mistake of bringing it over to my boyfriend's house and ended up only getting 1/4 of it to bring back home. Next time I'll cut myself a portion first!

I'm a senior citizen who's tired of cooking, but this looks delicious and easy enough that I just might make it sometime. Often I cut out recipes that look good and they end up just sitting in my recipe drawer forever, but I have a feeling this one will be the exception. Thank you!
What an easy refreshing dessert .
Got mine chilling in the fridge right now - I used light cool whip (generic!) and 1/3 fat light cream cheese to try and make it slightly better for us. My 14 year old did most of the prep - so its super easy. Looking forward to eating it tonight! Thanks for such a yummy, easy dessert.

This looks WONDERFUL! Have you ever made it with real whipped cream? I don't use cool whip (name brand or generic) so I'm wondering if it will work with real cream or if it will turn soupy without the stabilizers in non-dairy topping.
The Humble Food Snob - Thank you!! I have never made it with real whipped cream. Although I am also partial to using the real deal in recipes, I think for this recipe the stabilizers Cool Whip are necessary to have the pie hold it's form. So, I wouldn't recommend making it with real cream, but if you end up giving it a shot let me know how it turns out!
I just went a bought everything except cream cheese I forgot it do u thing it will still be goodwith out the cream cheese
when you say chill - do you mean in the freezer? a similar recipe calls for chilling it in the freezer. thank you! :) -emily
